Order of the Arrow Training

Colonneh Lodge offers a variety of specialized leadership training for Arrowmen in the Order of the Arrow (OA).  Lodge Leadership Development (LLD) is a day-long training for officers and advisers.  In addition to training courses available at a NOAC or section conclave, specialized trainings such as National Leadership Seminars (NLS), and National Lodge Adviser Training Seminar (NLATS) are also offered:

Election Teams    |   LLD   |  DYLC    |   NLS   |    NOAC   |    OA Unit Representative   |  Section Conclave

Election Team Training is offered after the August lodge executive committee (LEC) meeting for chapter election teams.

Lodge Leadership Development - All Arrowmen are invited to attend Lodge Leadership Development (LLD), a dynamic annual leadership training event held each January, to learn more about the Order of the Arrow and Colonneh Lodge and how to become a better leader. Training classes include leadership development, event planning, goal setting, and other tools needed to improve chapters.

NOAC graphicNational Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC) is a national conference held every other year at a university. NOAC Training is filled with plenty of new opportunities to train the Arrowmen of today and those who will be chosen to lead into tomorrow. No matter what job you have in your chapter or lodge, NOAC will have cutting edge training sessions that will help you be more effective in your role. During the first three full days of the conference, Arrowmen attend training sessions each morning and Arrowmen can participate in established tracks focusing on sessions such as the basics of chapter and lodge operations, planning, service, and new technologies and leadership methods that will continue to shape your lodge. Don’t miss the great opportunities provided by nothing short of the best trainers from around the country.

The Developing Youth Leadership Conference (DYLC) will deepen an adviser’s capacity to develop youth leadership within the lodge and chapter. Conference topics will include fostering a growth mindset, promoting resilience, providing constructive feedback that leads to changes in youth behavior and creating a life-long coaching/mentoring relationship. Conference participants will gain insights necessary to successfully coach youth applying the leadership skills they gained during the National Leadership Seminar. The Developing Youth Leadership Conference will move us beyond lodge mechanics and operations to establishing a lodge and chapter culture that grows youth who are capable of establishing goals, building teams, and guiding the lodge’s work to achieve Journey to Excellence. Prior participation in the National Leadership Seminar is encouraged, but not required.

The National Leadership Seminar (NLS) is a weekend conference focused on the skills and attributes of leadership. The program enhances the leadership skills of the Order of the Arrow's key youth and adult members as they seek to improve their services to the Boy Scouts of America and the greater community. The weekend format complements the longer, more detailed Junior Leadership Training program (for youth) and Wood Badge program (for adults). During the seminar, participants make a contract with themselves to apply the skills learned on projects in the lodge, council, and community. NLS prepares Arrowmen to become better leaders both within and outside of the Scouting program.

OA Unit Representative Training - This training is for unit OA representatives and their advisers or leaders who want to find out more about the program. Learn what the roles and responsibilities are for the OA unit representative and how to get the Arrowmen involved in the chapter and lodge.

The OA Unit Representative Summit is a training experience for OA unit representatives and their advisers held in August. The summit focuses on building leadership skills, providing service to the unit and working with the OA unit representative adviser.

Section Conclave
, also known as the Lone Star Fellowship, is an annual gathering of Order of the Arrow members from nine lodges in Southern Region Section 3 (SR3). All Arrowmen are invited to attend. Conclave has a variety of training courses from beginner to advanced to help you be more effective in your role as an Arrowman.
